OK, eclipse fans. Did you see it?
We celebrated the May 20 solar eclipse in community, viewing the celestial event from the foothills of the Sandias followed by dessert, music, poetry and a bit of astro-talk at a private home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A gathering of the Tribes of family, friend and acquaintence bonding together as we mark this day with our common awe toward the magnificence of our celestial home.
Mind churning, unanswered thoughts of the eternal yearning, as I watch Sun and Moon engaged in a slow tango, loving embrace of the majestic that can only hint at the oneness that is.
Gazing around, as this final act plays out upon Nature’s stage, everyone appears transfixed by Astronomy’s version of a Hollywood blockbuster in 3-D, free glasses included.
Sharing mountain foothills as an open-air cinema, our collective voice starts a cacophony of chatter eminating from within small groups stretching along a ribbon of winding roadway and scattered amongst sagebush trails.
Finally, a spontaneous collective cheer emerges as the ring of fire completes the marriage of Sun and Moon. Elation, as the Total Solar Eclipse of May 20, 2012 bonds us together as a community of many, united as one.
